CTG Reading Group
The CTG Reading Group is a paper reading group for interested CTG students, which usually takes place on a bi-weekly basis (typically during terms).
For each session, a volunteer selects a journal or a conference paper he or she considers to be interesting for the other members of the CTG group. This paper can, for example, be a tutorial-style paper, but it can also be a research paper. Optionally, additional papers on the same topic can be proposed for further reading.
All participants read the (main) paper beforehand, which is usually sent out via email one week before the meeting. Alternatively, it can be downloaded from the Reading Group homepage. Then we will gather to discuss the paper in an informal session. The volunteer who proposed the paper will be responsible for summarizing the paper and presenting its basic concepts to the group, so as to get the discussion going. Any presentation style (using transparencies, the white board, or a laptop presentation) is welcome.
The Reading Group is a good opportunity for all CTG students to extend their knowledge beyond the scope of their own research topic, look at interesting new results and problems in the literature, and perhaps even develop new ideas for their own work.
