I am a Power Electronics Engineer.

Hi,
My name is Ali and I am a Senior Power Electronics Engineer at AIRA. I got my Ph.D. degree in power electronics from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada in 2020. Prior working at AIRA, I was working as a power electronics engineer at SMPC Technologies. During my Ph.D program, I worked as a research assistant at Dr. Ordonez's Power Electronics Group. My Ph.D. thesis was focused on developing new design methods to achieve compact, high-efficiency and low-noise planar magnetic for high-frequency power electronics converters.

My experiences and expertise includes the following:

  • AC/DC and DC/DC Power Supply Design: LLC Resonant Converter, Boost PFC, Flyback, Forward, Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost
  • Magnetic Design: Transformer, AC Inductor, Filter Inductor, Integrated Magnetic Structures
  • Wireless Power Transfer
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for Power Electronics: ANSYS MAXWELL, SIMPLORER, Q3D, ICEPAK, SIWAVE, PExprt, PEMag.
  • Analog and Digital Control for power converters: PSIM, TI C2000 DSP Family
  • PCB Design, Development, and Verification: Altium Designer, Siwave (Signal Integrity), ICEPAK (thermal Analysis)
  • EMI/EMC: Conducted and Radiate Noise Measurement, Analysis and Reduction
Check the project page to see what I have been up to lately. If you think I can help you with your research or industry project, please contact me. I am always down for quality projects!
