Subject: possible change to course marking scheme

I realize that in many cases the mid-term exam did not accurately measure students' abilities due to the time constraints. A possible change to the course marking scheme would be to omit the mid-term mark from the calculation of the final mark if the final exam mark ends up being higher than the mid-term mark. Presumably this would also be an accurate evaluation since the final exam will cover the same material but you will have more time to write it. However, I don't think it's fair to change the marking scheme unless there is unanimous approval. Please think about this and we can discuss it on Friday.
