Welcome to ELEX 2117

2021-06-24

Our first lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, September 8  at 9:30 in SW03-1710.

Labs will begin the second week.  Parts kits for the labs will be available for purchase from the BCIT bookstore starting in late July for $31.95.  These are only available to students registered in the course -- you will need to ask for the "ELEX 2117 Parts Kit" at the front counter and show ID.   You will also need some components from your Level 1 parts kit (some space on your breadboard, Dupont/Berg jumper wires, and the USB-Blaster).

Lecture and lab notes for the previous term are available.  These will be updated and reflect that you will be able to get help and demonstrate completed labs in person.

Midterm Exams on October 8 and November 12

2021-09-28

The two midterm exams for ELEX 2117 will be two hours long and will be held outside regular lecture hours.  It's important that you add them to the system you use to remind yourself of appointments.

The exams will be held on Friday October 8 and Friday November 12.   They will run from 3:30 to 5:20 PM in SW1-1025.

You will not be able to leave the exam room before 4:30.

The students who have conflicts have been contacted and will be writing from 4:30 to 6:20.

Practice Quizzes and Exams

2021-10-05

Under Activities / Quizzes you'll find the Quizzes and Exams from last term (Winter 2021).  The material and the order in which we are covering it has changed somewhat so you'll have to use your judgement in deciding which questions are still relevant.  You can take each quiz/exam as often as you wish and in most cases you'll see different versions of each question on each attempt.

Option Selection Focus Group

2021-10-16

The ECET Department and the BCIT Learning and Teaching Center will be running a focus group this Wednesday, October 20 from 2:30 to 3:30 PM.   They are looking for ECET Level 2 students who are willing to discuss the option selection process in small groups.  In return, participants will be given a $15 gift card (vendor TBD).  The discussions will be moderated by Cathy Griffin from the LTC and Gundi Minato from ECET.  No faculty will be present and your comments will be kept confidential.

If you would like to participate, please respond to this survey and select your preferred gift card (the most popular choice will be selected).

Quiz 2 Topics

2021-10-22

The second quiz will be held during the first half of the lecture on Monday, October 25 (1:30 PM).  It could cover:

Second (Online) Option Selection Focus Group

2021-11-04

The ECET Department and the BCIT Learning and Teaching Center will be running a Zoom focus group on Wednesday, November 10 from 2:45 to 3:45 PM.   We are looking for ECET Level 2 students who are willing to discuss the option selection process in small groups.  No personal questions; we are interested in how you chose your option.  Did you know before you came to BCIT?  Did you decide in your first year? What led you to make your decision?

In return, participants will be given a $15 gift card for Tim Horton's.  The discussions will be moderated by Cathy Griffin from the LTC and Gundi Minato from ECET.  No faculty will be present and your comments will be anonymous.

If you would like to participate, please respond to this survey.

You will not be able to leave the exam room before 4:30.

The students who have conflicts have been contacted and will be writing from 4:30 to 6:20.
