  Current Research Projects

There are many projects some of which involve other collaborators in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mining Engineering and Forestry at UBC. Project funding is primarily from NSERC and PRECARN/IRIS.

  • Control of miniexcavator functions (with S.E. Salcudean (EECE) and Robert Hall in UBC Mining Engineering).
  • Teleoperation of machines with motion feedback from a 6df platform (with S.E. Salcudean).
  • Parameter identification and control of hydraulic cylinder-actuated mechanisms (with C. deSilva).
  • Vision-based control of tracked machines (with D. Lowe).
  • Human-to-robot skill transfer.
  • Eye tracking human interface
  • Artifact (EOG) removal from EEG signals in a brain control interface (with G. Birch, Neil Squire Foundation).
  • Computer-assisted measurement of strength in boards (with F. Lam).
  • Medical robotics and vision system projects (with S.E. Salcudean and R. Rohling).
