Adjunct Professor
Electrical and Computer Engineering
The University of British
Columbia

About Me
Hamed received his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2015, and B.Sc. and M.Sc. in
Electrical and Computer Engineering from the
University of Tehran in 2009 and 2011,
respectively. He is currently working at BC Hydro as a Specialist Engineer with the Transmission Engineering division. Prior to that, he worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow at UBC and as a consultant at BC Hydro for 6 months. He worked in the High Voltage
Lab of University of Tehran as a lab
assistant for over two years. In Summer
2009, he joined
IAESTE
for an internship in Florina, Greece, in a
350 MW coal power plant. His second internship was
in the Electric Drive Lab, University of
Tehran, working on the design of a dimmable
electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps.
The focus of his B.Sc. thesis was on optimal
design of Rogowski coil for partial
discharge measurements. During his M.Sc. program, he worked on power
system control and stability in presence of
large-scale wind farms. He also explored the
impacts of renewable energies on power
system operation and planning.
Hamed joined Dr. José Martí's
research group at the University of British
Columbia in 2012 to pursue his Ph.D. degree.
He worked on distribution systems analysis
and optimization in collaboration with BC
Hydro. Later, he joined BC Hydro as a
contractor where he worked on solving the
voltage management issues in the
distribution feeders with large distributed
generation units. Hamed is a registered Professional Engineer with EGBC and a
member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society. |
