If you are interested in joining my research group, a formal application to the ECE department is necessary; see the graduate programs and admission processes for more information.
You are welcome to send me an email, introduce yourself, and describe your interests and expertise. Please use "Prospective <Master/PhD> Student for <Fall/Winter> <Year>" as the subject. Please also attach your CV and university-issued transcripts from your current and all previous degrees (which include course average grade and number of students, when such information is available). There is no need to translate your cGPA to the 4.0 scale unless your school uses this scale. Instead, use your school's scale directly, e.g., 3.5, 9.5, 19, or 90. Please do not be discouraged if I do not reply immediately; I might just be postponing review of applications until the usual decision-making schedule. I will look at all applications that indicate me as a potential advisor. Evidence of research aptitude (projects, publications, or even just well-formed thoughts about your research interests) and a description of how your interests align with the work done in my research group will strengthen your application substantially. All admitted graduate students are fully funded.
UBC Students: If you are a UBC undergraduate or MEng student interested in doing a research project in my group, please feel free to send me an email and include your CV, current and all previous transcripts (which include course average grade and number of students, when such information is available), the courses you are currently taking, and a brief statement of your research interests. Please use "<Undergraduate/MEng> student interested in research experience" as the subject.
Canadian and International Interns: I do not offer paid international internships outside of the official Canadian programs, such as USRA for Canadian students or Mitacs Globalink for international students. For self-funded internships, please see the UBC Visiting International Students (VIRS) program. All applications to Mitacs Globalink are administered by Mitacs, so please do not contact me about these internships directly; there is nothing I can do to help facilitate admission. For the remaining cases, please feel free to reach out by email and send me the same information requested above for UBC students. Please use "<Your university name> undergraduate student interested in research experience" as the email subject line.
