Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2000 20:50:58 -0800 From: Ed Casas <edc@ece.ubc.ca> Subject: Re: question> Is system bus same as peripheral bus? No. VME, ISA and PCI are system buses -- they allow PCB cards to be plugged into connectors on a motherboard in the the same case as the microprocessor. SCSI, USB, ``Centronics'' parallel, and RS-232 serial interfaces are examples of peripheral buses -- they allow a computer to use external peripherals. -- Ed Casas edc@ece.ubc.ca http://casas.ece.ubc.ca +1 604 822-2592
