Our first lecture is scheduled for Thursday, January 6 at 9:30 in SW03-1710 a Virtual Classroom.
Labs will begin the second week. Parts kits for the labs will be available for purchase from the BCIT bookstore for $3.95. These are only available to students registered in the course -- you will need to ask for the "ELEX 2117 Parts Kit" at the front counter and show ID. You will also need some components from your Level 1 parts kit (the EPM240 CPLD board, USB-Blaster, Dupont/Berg jumper wires, and some space on your breadboard).
You will also be able to order the parts kit on-line from the BCIT Bookstore if necessary. Shipping fees will apply.
Lecture and lab notes for the previous term are available.

Please don't ask questions immediately after a lecture. The break between lectures is needed to allow one instructor to pack up and leave and the next to come in and set up. If you want to ask a question, your choices, in decreasing order of preference, are:
Thank you!

The two midterm exams for ELEX 2117 will be two hours long and will be held outside regular lecture hours. It's important that you include them in whatever method you use to remind yourself of appointments.
The exams will be held on Friday February 4 and Friday March 4. They will run from 3:30 to 5:20 PM in SW1-1205.
Let me know as soon as possible if this time conflicts with another course.
2022-02-15
You do not need to create a separate module for the shift register or build it from individual registers as shown in the lecture notes (although you may do so if you wish).
Since there is no lab the week of February 21, the submission deadline for Lab 5 has been extended to Wednesday, February 23.
2022-02-23
The final exam for ELEX 2117 will be on Thursday, April 14 at 14:30 (2:30 PM) in NE01-331 and NE01-209.
2022-03-01
If you have not already started on Lab 6 you may prefer to do an alternate version of Lab 6 (Lab 6b). This version implements a serial interface receiver rather than a transmitter. You may complete and submit either version of the lab.
2022-03-28
Quiz 3 will be on Friday, April1 during the regular lecture time. It will cover Lectures 6 (Timing Analysis) and 7 (Memory System Design).
2022-04-07
Excused absences and all marks except for the final exam should now have been entered. Please check your marks and let me know if you have any questions.
Update on April 8: An error in the calculation of the lab marks has been corrected. No one failed the lab portion of the course.
2022-04-11
Students with surnames between Sharma (Surya) and Zhu must write the final exam in NE01-209.
Other students, with surnames between Adam and Sharma (Ram) must write the exam in NE01-331 as in the final exam schedule.
The date and time are unchanged.
2022-04-13
Please leave your student card on your desk until it has been check by an invigilator against the name on the exam paper.
2022-04-13
The answer to part (b) has been corrected. Students affected have had their marks updated.

Congratulations, everyone passed the course.
The final exam has been marked and emailed back. The solutions and the marking scheme have been posted. Let me know as soon as possible if you see any errors (before May 9, if possible).
The unofficial final marks have been computed but are subject to change.
The distributions of the final exam marks and final course marks are shown below.
