Newbern Alpha Prayer Page

Welcome back for another great year of Alpha and Beta! Thank you all for your help and prayers last year. It may be premature to tell, but I think it will be another awesome year. We have a lot to be thankful for, and also a lot to pray for.

Let's thank the Lord for our celebration dinner last night. We had 9 guests, great food, warm temperature, and touching sharing.

Be praying for:

1. Our guests. Here are our guests by name:

Sarah Kim
Siyu Zhang
Rachel He
Chris Lin
Chris Fung
James Song
Richard Feng
Marie Wu

Let's remember to pray for them as they start their adventure with Christ, or continue in their spiritual growth.

2. The invitees who couldn't come:
There were a few people we invited who couldn't come to the initial dinner, so please be praying about them, too, that their schedules would allow them to join in on this adventure.

3. Our guest's schedules:
That there won't be any conflicts, both near and far, as we consider having Alpha and Beta on Tuesday evenings.

4. Our food team:
Pray also for Jez as she considers continuing on in the food team, joined now by Diane, who will be our on-call chef.

5. The Alpha and Beta team (including you guys and gals, the prayer team!):
That we'd be renewed in our dedication to serve and "love the Lord [our] God with all [our] heart and with all [our] soul and with all [our] mind" (Matt. 22:37).

Hey, here's some cool news about one of our guests, Marie, who came with her husband, Richard. Marie is from Nanjing, China. She's only been in Canada for less than a year, and SHE SPEAKS FRENCH quite fluently (complete with those guttural "r"'s). C'est incredible, n'est-ce pas??

Anyway, as you can already tell, I'm excited, and I probably speak for all the other Alpha and Beta team members, too.

I trust that you have all been praying for Alpha and Beta because great things have been happening. I hope and pray that you are all being blessed in your relationship with the Lord as Alpha has been blessed, because we, the Alpha team, get to reap and experience what seems to be all the blessings and all the answered prayers! But be assured that you, too, are being favoured immensely by our Lord for your service and for knowing that He is faithful to you and to all of us.

So on that note, let's continue to pray faithfully and with expectancy for more good stuff from Jesus. (FYI: "stuff" in Mandarin is "east-west".)

Let's give praise for:
* Jez, who has agreed to cook once again for Alpha.

Let's pray for:
* our guests, many of whom have expressed interest in continuing with Alpha and Beta this time, that they won't be deterred in any way from coming,
* people who are still considering whether they can come or not, that God would clear their schedules, or that He would become their priority and that they would clear their schedules for Him!
* our Beta curriculum, that this new book we're doing ("Purpose Driven Life") would introduce the guests, leaders, and helpers, to a new spiritual adventure,
* potential helpers. We're looking for people who would be willing to be crafted into helpers and eventually leaders for Alpha and Beta. Winson Ip is considering serving the Lord in some way, and I've asked if he would be interested in helping with Alpha, so pray for him as he seeks God's will.

Thanks, again, for your service to the Lord.
