Welcome to Nalin's Home Page

My name is Nalin Asanka Gamagedara Arachchilage (too long, isn't it?). I currently work as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Usable Privacy and Security under the supervision of Professor Konstantin Beznosov in the Laboratory of Education and Research in Software Security Engineering (LERSSE) at University of British Columbia, Canada. Before moving to this beautiful Vancouver, I worked as Postdoctoral Researcher in Systems Security Engineering under the supervision of Professor Andrew Martin in the Cyber Security Center, Department of Computer Science at Oxford University.

I obtained a BSc (MIS) Hons from University College Dublin, National University of Ireland and have completed a master's degree, MSc Information Management and Security at University of Bedfordshire, UK. I'm a Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) at Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), USA. I hold a PhD in Usable Security entitled "Security Awareness of Computer Users: A Game Based Learning Approach" from Brunel University, London, UK (External examiner: Professor David Benyon, Internal examiner: Dr David Bell and my advisors are : Dr Steve Love and Dr Mark Perry). My research focused on developing a game design framework to protect computer users against "phishing attacks". During my PhD I have also led lectures, seminars and supervised undergraduates in the laboratory and taken a course on "Graduate Learning and Teaching Programme". My main research interests are Usable Security and Privacy, Computer Security, Trust, HCI, Mobile HCI, Serious Games and E-learning.

Prior to undertaking my current position at University of British Columbia, I worked on a number of lecturing positions in Computer Science at Brunel University, University of Bedfordshire, Westminster University and Central Bedfordshire College in the UK.
