  • 2003 D.G. Fisher Award from the Systems and Control Division of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering, for outstanding contributions in the area of process control.
  • NSERC 2002 Synergy Award, awarded in October 2002 for the UBC-Honeywell Industry Solutions (Vancouver Operations) Partnership that led to the development and worldwide commercialization of the Intellimap 3.0 software for identification and robust tuning of cross-directional control systems.
  • NSERC 1999 Synergy Award, awarded in October 1999 for the UBC-Universal Dynamics Ltd. Partnership that led to the development of the BrainWave adaptive controller, based on my research.
  • IEEE Fellowship awarded in January 1999 for "Contributions to the theory and practice of adaptive control".
