Technical Projects

WINMAN project: This project was cofunded by the european community as part of the IST program. The partners of the WINMAN consortium are: Lucent Technologies Netherlands, Ellemedia Technologies Ltda., Telefonica I+D, Portugal Telecom Inovac¸ao, Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) SA, OTE Consulting, National Technical University of Athens, University College of London, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya and Team Telecom International (TTI).

– Software design using Unified Modeling Language (UML).

– TMN model study.

– Application of TOM model in software architecture.

– WDM routing heuristic algorithm analysis over fiber optic networks.

– Study of new transport technologies: ASON, ASTN and GMPLS.

Awards

• Roberto Ovalle Aguirre Award 2001, from the Chilean Society of Engineers,for the best contribution to the National Industry Development: ”Design, Construction and Characterization of a Hot Wire Anemometer”, Thesis work, University of Chile, Faculty of Engineering, 2000.

Grants

• The ”President of the Republic” fellowship 1996-2000: Scholarship.
• Telefonica Research and Development Fellowship (October 2000- October 2001), Fellowship awarded to make a research visit at the Telefonica R+D Center, Madrid, Spain.
• JICA Fellowship (January 2004- March 2004, Japan), Fellowship awarded to attend the course ”Fiber Optics Outside Plant Engineering”, including technical visits to Japan Factories and Research and Development Centers.
