I'm a graduate student working with Dr. Nicolas Jaeger in the MiNa - Silicon Photonics Lab. My research interests include emerging silicon photonics technologies and integrated optics. Specifically, design and fabrication of on-chip silicon photonic  optical add-drop multiplexers for future 400G Wavelength-Division-Multiplexing (WDM) architectures.

Silicon photonics is the application of light inside integrated circuits (ICs). By utilizing the infrastructure and scientific advancements of electronic ICs since the 70's, silicon photonics introduces the power efficiency and speed of light signals to these ICs, while maintaining the cheap and mass-production characteristics of such ICs.

These silicon photonic chips, known as silicon-electronic photonic integrated circuits (Si-EPICs), are gaining popularity with semiconductor giants (Intel, IBM, Cisco, etc...) to create efficient, high-bandwidth, on-chip, optical interconnects chips that work along the electronic ICs. Such Si-EPICs are intended to meet the future bandwidth requirements, needed for IoT applications and high-bandwidth datacenters.
