About Me
I am an integrated photonics engineer and scientist with experience in design, layout, fabrication, testing, analysis, packaging, and validation of photonic technologies across various platforms and fabrication processes. My goal is to advance photonics technology and lower the barriers to entry by developing platforms and open-source tools.
Currently, I am a graduate student working with Dr. Nicolas Jaeger in the MiNa - Silicon Photonics Lab. My research interests include emerging silicon photonics technologies and integrated optics. Specifically, I focus on the design and fabrication of on-chip silicon photonic optical add-drop multiplexers for wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) architectures.
Silicon photonics is the application of integrated photonics in silicon-based substrates and manufacturing processes, leveraging existing and mature electronic IC infrastructure and ecosystem to improve upon existing systems and realize new and exciting applications, while benefiting from the scalability and reliability of silicon manufacturing and processing techniques. These silicon-electronic photonic integrated circuits (Si-EPICs) are now being applied in applications such as datacom, telecom, LiDARs, sensing, AI training and inference architectures, among others, thanks to the many bright semiconductor innovators working to meet future interconnects bandwidth and photonic integration needs.
