CO-OP WORK EXPERIENCE

1998-Summer Spectrum Signal Processing, Burnaby, BC

Co-op Work Placement IV – ASIC Co-op

Key Responsibilities:

Tested Hurricane PCI –DSP Bridge chip using a TMS320C32 evaluation board.

Programmed Altera 7128 PLD on the Hurricane test board to test diverse functionality.

Built test board for Hurricane to test Sharc connectivity

Set-up software DSP test library for Hurricane test board to facilitate and expedite testing.

1998-Spring Spectrum Signal Processing, Burnaby, BC

Co-op Work Placement III – MAC Hardware Co-op

Key Responsibilities:

Developed Test Software for the single TMS320C6x Detroit DSP board

Developed benchmark software to assess the performance of the Detroit board.

Verified and tested Detroit and Dakar DSP boards using a logic analyzer, PLX Monitor software and custom software.

Involved in Altera HDL code development to control and simulate hardware state behaviors.

Involved in DSP Board Design and PLD programming for release of 10MB version of Dakar board.

1997-Summer Intrinsyc Software Inc., Vancouver, BC

Co-op Work Placement II – Software Developer & Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinated the release of Intrinsyc SP version 3.01.

Ported Intrinsyc SP from a Borland C++ environment to Visual C++.

Restructured the architecture of Intrinsyc SP including documentation.

Developed drivers for data acquisition boards including Daq (Board/100, Book/100, PCMCIA/112B) and WaveBook/512.

Enhanced software development environment by setting up MS Anomaly Tracking System for entire organization.

Interviewed prospective new employees.

Supervised new employee on the development process and Intrinsyc SP’s architecture.

 

1996-Fall IBM Canada, Burnaby, BC

Co-op Work Placement I – Verification and Testing Lab Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Developed switch software in C under the SUN development environment.

Verified, tested and performed statistical analysis on IBM’s Video Broadcasting and conferencing service (WAVE).

Automated the testing process using Perl and prepared test documents using Frame Maker.

Managed lab network using HP Openview.

Prepared demos of developed product for customers, co-workers and managers.

Documented work on local Intranet using HTML-based tools, including CGI and Perl.

Started violin lessons in summer of 97. Certified open-water scuba diver as of May 1998.

Enjoy Hiking and various outdoor activities as well as indoor activities such as Squash.

Member of high school soccer team for three years and member of Dubai’s Iranian Club team for two years.

Started Spectrum Signal Processing’s soccer team. Captained a team in a four-a-side soccer tournament and attained third place. Organized intramural soccer team at UBC.
