INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE 26-Mar-2025 Roberto: About remote controlling the unit. We do not have option R&S HO732. This is a board that can be inserted on the back to add 1x LAN and 1x USB ports. Without it the supply can only be controlled manually. Downloaded HMExplorer_1_7_9.msi to: https://people.ece.ubc.ca/~eng-services/files/eHUB/Bench2-RF/HMP4040%20DC%20Power%20Supply/ This is the app used to generate arbitrary waveforms and communicate with the supply. Without option R&S HO732, the App can at least be used to create the waveform comma separated values that the user would enter manually on the power supply. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** 3. USER ENTRIES 02-Apr-2025 Roberto: about power budget The HMP4040 does not enforce the total power limit at the configuration stage, it enforces the 384 W total limit dynamically. This means that you can set V*I up to max 160W per channel on all channels simultaneously. The unit monitors total power drawn in real time, and if the total exceeds 384 W, it will limit current on one or more channels to bring the total back within spec. What strategy is used to do this is unknown. It probably limits the channel(s) using the most power first, but R&S does not officially specify this prioritization 26-Mar-2025 Roberto: HMExplorer Arbitrary waveforms data points must be entered manually. The app HMExplorer installed on the PC of bench #2 is helpful to create the data points.
