Security Code Override

The instrument security code (calibration password) is set to AT3446XA at the factory. If it has been changed and you no longer remember the code, you can reset the code back to its factory default value by using one of the two following procedures.

Which Procedure Should I Use?

From the instrument front panel, press [Shift] > [Help] > About to view the instrument firmware revision. An example display is:

The last two digits of the firmware revision indicate the front panel PC board revision and which of the two procedures you should use. If the firmware revision ends with 02 or greater, use Procedure A. If the firmware revision ends with 01, use Procedure B.

Procedure A: For Firmware Revision Ending in 02, or Greater

Warning

This procedure should be performed by qualified service personnel only.Turn off the power and remove all measurement leads and other cables, including the power cord, from the instrument before continuing.

  1. Follow the disassembly procedure to disassemble the instrument.
  2. Locate connector J102 on the front panel board. Short pin A1 to B1 as shown by the orange line below.




  3. Reassemble the instrument, apply power and turn it on; the instrument will generate an error and beep (this is normal). Wait 30 to 40 seconds for the instrument to power up completely.
  4. Reset the security code to the factory default:
    1. Press [Shift] > [Utility] > Test / Admin > Security > New Code.
    2. Enter AT3446XA as the new passcode.
    3. Press Done.
    4. Verify the new code and press Yes to confirm the change.
  5. Remove power, disassemble the instrument, and remove the short. Then reassemble the instrument to complete the security code (calibration password) reset procedure.

Procedure B: For Firmware Revision Ending in 01

This procedure should be performed by qualified service personnel only.Turn off the power and remove all measurement leads and other cables, including the power cord, from the instrument before continuing.

  1. Follow the disassembly procedure to disassemble the instrument.
  2. Locate connector J102 on the front panel board. Short pin A1 to A6 or A7 as shown by the orange lines below. You do not need to short both pins to A1, just one of them.




  3. Reassemble the instrument, apply power and turn it on; the instrument will generate an error and beep (this is normal). Wait 30 to 40 seconds for the instrument to power up completely.
  4. Reset the security code to the factory default:
    1. Press [Shift] > [Utility] > Test / Admin > Security > New Code.
    2. Enter AT3446XA as the new passcode.
    3. Press Done.
    4. Verify the new code and press Yes to confirm the change.
  5. Remove power, disassemble the instrument, and remove the short. Then reassemble the instrument to complete the security code (calibration password) reset procedure.
