Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2000 22:20:51 -0800 From: Ed Casas <edc@ece.ubc.ca> Subject: more hints for Assignment 2For Question 4.5 you need to know the rms value of a Rayleigh signal but the definition of sigma in section 4.6.1 of the book is misleading. Sigma is the rms value of each of two zero-mean Gaussian r.v., say x and y. If you form a r.v. r=sqrt(x*x+y*y), then the rms value of r is sqrt(2)*sigma. For Question 4.10, you need to know that pi/4 DQPSK transmits 2 bits/symbol and GMSK transmits 1 bit/symbol. -- Ed Casas edc@ece.ubc.ca http://casas.ece.ubc.ca +1 604 822-2592
