Lab Session Sign-up - Results

2024-01-12

Too many students signed up for the first lab session so I used a first-come-first-served policy to transfer some students to the second session.

The following students should come to the second lab session unless someone wants to swap sessions with them:

Please fill in this survey  to sign up for the first or second session of each lab.

Quiz 1

2024-01-18

Will be on Friday, January 19 if BCIT is open.

It will cover Lecture 1 and Lecture 2 up to, and including, the Friis equation.

It will be open-book but all electronic devices other than calculators must be left at side, back, or front of the room.  Please wait outside the classroom (SW01-3150) until I ask you to come in.  This will allow me to put out the exam papers in alphabetical order. Each exam will have a different version of each question.  You must write your own exam at the location where it is placed.

The exam is scheduled for 50 minutes but you may continue writing into your lunch hour (12:30 to 1:20) if you wish.

You may not leave for the first 20 minutes and you may not start the exam if you are more than 20 minutes late.

Quiz 1 - Postponed to Monday

2024-01-18

There were 18 of 19 students in favour of postponing the Quiz and no one was opposed so we will postpone Quiz 1 until Monday morning.

There was a request to postpone Quiz 1 until next Monday due to the likelihood that there will be poor weather this Friday.

Please use this survey to vote on whether to postpone the quiz.

If there are no objections by Friday morning at 8 AM, the quiz will be postponed.   If there is an objection (e.g. because this would cause a conflict with something that someone has already scheduled) then the quiz will still be held on Friday at 11:30 AM.

Update: note that if the quiz is held on Monday the duration of the quiz will be limited to 50 minutes.  If the quiz is held on Friday you may continue working on the (same) quiz through your lunch hour (a total of 110 minutes).

Since there is no ELEX 7890 lecture on Monday, you may continue working on the quiz until 10:20.

Quiz 2

2024-02-01

Will be on Friday, February 2.

It will cover Lectures 3 (NLOS Propagation) and 4 (Diversity).

Quiz 4 Rescheduled

2024-02-09

Quiz 4 has been rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 29 to allow four students to attend the Canadian Engineering Competition.

Quiz 3

2024-02-15

Quiz 3 will cover Lectures 5 (Information and Capacity), 6 (Introduction to Coding), and the part of Lecture 7 up to and including repetition and Hamming codes.

Quiz 4

2024-02-23

Quiz 4 will be held on Thursday, February 29 at 1:30 in SW1-2016 (not on Friday March 1) as originally scheduled).

It will cover:

The quiz will be open-book but all electronic devices other than calculators must be left at side, back, or front of the room.  Please wait outside the classroom (SW01-2016) until I ask you to come in.  This will allow me to put out the exam papers in alphabetical order. You must write your own exam at the location where it is placed.

Because the room is not available after the scheduled lecture time you must finish by 2:20 PM.

You may not leave for the first 20 minutes and you may not start the exam if you are more than 20 minutes late.

Quiz 5

2024-03-19

Quiz 5 will be held on Friday, March 22 from 11:30 to 13:20 in SW1-2590.

It will cover:

The quiz will be open-book but all electronic devices other than calculators must be left at side, back, or front of the room.  Please wait outside the classroom (SW1-2590) until I ask you to come in.  This will allow me to put out the exam papers in alphabetical order. You must write your own exam at the location where it is placed.

You may not leave for the first 20 minutes and you may not start the exam if you are more than 20 minutes late.

2024-03-23

It will cover all of the material in the course.

The exam will be open-book but all electronic devices other than calculators must be left at side, back, or front of the room.  Please wait outside the classroom (SW1-3150) until I ask you to come in.  This will allow me to put out the exam papers in alphabetical order.
