The UBC Microelectronic Systems Engineering Laboratory (UBCMSEL) is located in McLoed 332, at the south end of campus. The lab provides CAD tools for the design and evaluation of Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuits.

• Hardware: 6 Ultra Sparc, 3 Sparc 10, One Sparc 20 and 8 Sparc 5 work stations
• IMS Logic Master Tester and HP VXI test cards (digital I/O and ADC)
• Software: Cadence tools from schematic entry to layout design and analog/digital simulation tools
• Synopsys tools, Xilinx Xact step and Avant! HSPICE.
