Introduction To "cdsdoc" - The CADENCE World Viewer
CDSdoc - An Introduction
cdsdoc is the universal online documentation for all the
VLSI CAD tools and compilers/simulators, provided to the University
of British Colmbia VLSI LABS, by CMC (The Candian Microelectronis
Corporation) and CADENCE.
Due to limited time and resources it is impossible to teach all the
features of the tools available to you for VLSI design. Design Framework II
forms have many options which you can find out about by using the online help
provided via cdsdoc.
Starting Cdsdoc

In an xterm window, enter
cdsdoc &
- The Cdsdoc Main Menu appears as shown in Figure below. Observe
the hypertext links following menu items.You can click on the hypertext links to select a
menu item or to open a manual or chapter, but don't do it yet. Each selection, will start
netscape with information page related to the topic. If you have Mozilla or Firfox open,
they would display the page.
- Observe the menue items, the headers for the documents and hyper links at the end of each
tree branch.
Accessing Documents From Menus
- Click on the hypetext link next to Analog Design Environment . The
The ADE Menu appears. Manuals in the ADE documentation set are listed.
- Each with their table of content and list of chapters.
Select the link next to Spectre Reference.
The Spectre Reference Topics Menu appears. Chapters in the Spectre Reference
documentation are listed.
- Select the link next to Table of Content and click the Open botton.
- The page will appear in the mozilla window after a few seconds.
Using the Cdsdoc Full Text Query
On each page on your HTML viewer (mozilla in our case) there are menue options such as
search which you can use to do a full text query.
