South Asia Trip (Sept - Dec 2002)

Goa
Population - Approx. 1.5 million (Goa State)
Tourist central of India
Main Languages: Konkani, Marathi, English & Hindi

I was in Goa for three days and it was sort of anti-climactic as it was my last stop in India before Mumbai.  I was there from Dec 9-12 and stayed in a hotel one night and with family the other.  The beaches in Goa are plentiful and the coast line has many small beach towns, some famous than others.  But after the good time I had on the beaches of Kerala, Goa was not that exciting.

Old Goa

Old Goa was built by the Portuguese and houses a plethora of churches and cathedrals.  The city was once said to have rivaled the beauty of Lisbon.  The main sites are the Se Cathedral (1562), Church of St. Francis Assisi (1517), Basilica of Bom Jesus (1541) contains the tomb and mortal remains of St. Francis etc.

Goa Family

My mum's first cousin lives in Goa with her son and four daughters.  So I went to visit them and meet my cousins for the first time.

Chapora Beach

One of the beautiful beaches in North Goa, I stayed there one night at a hotel and just chilled don the beach and watched the sunset.

Panaji

Panaji is the capital City of North Goa and has a population of about 100,000.  I took a sunset cruise with my cousin.  Also c=visited the weekly flea market in at Anjuna beach which has hundreds of stalls set up selling all kinds of stuff.
