South Asia Trip (Sept - Dec 2002) Delhi |
||
I was in Delhi from November 6-8, 2002. Spent one day sight seeing around Old Delhi and one day walking around aimlessly in New Delhi where I went to see the Qutab Minar and shopped at M and N Block markets in Greater Kailash. I stayed at a hotel one night in Old Delhi and at a friends place the other 2 nights in Greater Kailash. | ||
Old Delhi was the capital of Muslim India between 17th and 19th centuries. The Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan moved his capital from Agra to Delhi in 17th century. Old Delhi includes the Red Fort (Lal Qila), the majestic Jama Masjid (mosque), and the Chandni Chowk shopping bazaar |
A Canadian friend of mine who was working in Delhi at the time was staying with one of her Canadian friends and I stayed with them a couple of nights |
