I received the Diplom (Univ.) and the Dr.-Ing. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Erlangen, Germany, in 1998 and 2002, respectively. In 2003, I joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia at which I am a Full Professor. My research interests are fairly broad in the areas of communications, signal processing, detection, estimation, and learning.
