Nature Vancouver is an ecological organization based in Vancouver, BC. Every summer it runs a camp of interest to outdoor enthusiasts, including botanists and birders. In 2008, the camp was held in Smithers, BC, about 1200 km north of Vancouver. This web page shows some of the scenery and wildflowers we saw in the mountains and meadows around Smithers.

In the morning of Day #5, we were led to the Smithers Community Forest on the south slopes of Hudsons Bay Mountain by Rosamund Pojar, a local naturalist who had contributed to the well-known flower book listed at the bottom. It is on Ski Hill Road, at WGS84 coordinates 54^o 43' 47" North, 127^o 13' 01" West.

In the afternoon, Rosamund took us to a Cottonwood forest north of Smithers, on the NE flank of Hudsons Bay Mountain. The coordinates of the parking at the end of Horlings Road are 54^o 50' 57" North, 127^o 14' 47" West.
