1.  The IEEE Seminar on Next Generation Planning Tools has been
scheduled for Tue, 9 Nov 1999 from 7:00 - 9:30 at BCIT, Bldg SE6, BC Tel
Theatre.  Free admission.  (The technical program will be posted
shortly.)

2.  Richard Stallman (Free Software Foundation) and Tim O'Reilly
(O'Reilly & Assoc.) will both be speaking in Vancouver on Linux and Open
Source software development on 23/24 Sep 1999.  See

3.  IEEE Vancouver Section and the IEEE Student Branch at UBC will be
participating in LinuxFest'99 at UBC on Sat, 2 Oct 1999.  See

4.  Do you know of someone who should be recognized for their
significant long-term service to the Vancouver Section?  The Vancouver
Section has been asked to submit nominations for the IEEE Millennium
Medals but the deadline is 15 Sep 1999.  See
