Welcome to ELEX 7860

2019-01-01

Lectures start January 3.

Lab and Lecture Schedule (Updated Jan. 7)

2019-01-06

The tentative schedule for labs and lectures for the term is given below.

We'll skip the Thursday morning lecture that falls on the first week of each lab.  Thus students in set 8S will do the lab first but won't have a lecture on the day of the lab.

During the lab session on January 10 we will view and discuss an antenna lecture and demo by John Kraus.

Midterm Exam

2019-02-02

There will be a two-part midterm exam during the scheduled lecture times on Thursday, February 21 and Friday, February 22.  Location TBD.

Marks Retrieval

2019-02-16

The Marking Scheme shows how things were marked.  You can retrieve your marks using the password attached to Lab 1 as a feedback file called "MarksPassword.txt".  If you did not submit a Lab 1 report, please e-mail me for your marks password.

Midterm Exam Schedule and Locations

2019-02-19

The midterm exam will be held at the following dates and locations:

Note that these are not the regular lecture rooms.  The exam will cover the material listed in the Learning Objectives - Part 1 (to the end of Lecture 8).  There will be two questions in each session.   You must attend both sessions.

Midterm Exam Topics

2019-02-21

Since so many people have asked... Midterm 1 will cover Lectures 1 to 5 (Propagation and Diversity) and Midterm 2 will cover Lectures 6 to 8 (Information Theory and Coding).

Lab 4

2019-02-27

If possible, bring your laptop to Lab 4.  We will be programming the TI CC3200 Launchpad IoT boards using the Energia IDE (a 183 MB download) and the CC3200 board support package which can be installed from the IDE.  You might also have to install OS drivers so that the CC3200 board's USB interface will appear as a serial port for uploading code and as a virtual serial port.

Updated Course Schedule

2019-03-04

The previous course schedule did not take into account Spring Break.  To (partly) make up the missed lectures we will hold lectures every Thursday morning until the end of the term.  The lab dates have also been delayed by a week.  The final lab will not require a lab report.
