Marking of Assignment 5

Only Question 1 was marked. It was marked out of 7. One mark was awarded for each of the following:

• Number of RAM Chips
  • using 8 RAM chips
• Address Bus Connections
  • connecting the CPU's A0 through A15 outputs to every chip's A0 to A15
  • connecting the CPU's A16 through A23 outputs to the address decoder
• Decoder Connections
  • generating 2 chip select outputs
  • connecting each of the decoder's chip-select outputs to 4 RAM chips. Each set of RAM chips connected to a common CS defines a `bank'.
• Data Bus Connections
  • connecting the two data bits on each RAM chip in each bank to a different pair of CPU data bus bits
• Control Bus Connections
  • connecting the CPU's WR* output to every chip's W* input
