ELEC 464 : Material Covered by Midterm Exam

A student asked:

As far as material covered in the course, we've pretty well stuck to the outline as given in the course information document. This is a Web (HTML) document that is available on the EE 464 Web site and was handed out in the first lecture. Essentially, we've covered Chapters 1 to 6 of the text, omitting the following: We also covered PAL design using CUPL which is not covered in the text.

This includes so much material (about 350 pages) that you may want to review the lectures notes and use the text to fill in the areas that are unclear.

However, it may be more effective to base your review strategy around the Course Objectives which are available in the same document on the Web page. The first six objectives (timing analysis through exception processing) will be tested. The questions on the midterm will be similar to the assignment problems. If you've been doing the assignments you shouldn't have much problem.

For example, you will almost certainly have to do the following on the mid-term and/or the final exam:

Another suggestion is to make sure that you are intimately familiar with the 68000 reference card in the Appendix to the text. By this point in the course you should understand in detail the meaning of every bit of information on that card (if you don't, then you've missed something!). Understanding the way the information in the reference card is laid out will save you time during the midterm and exam.
