Project Management Documents

For the lectures on the Initiate and Plan (two lectures) topics you must each prepare and submit the project planning documents specified in the table in the course information handout.  Each student must submit their own.  Submit the documents, in PDF format, to the appropriate assignment folder (Activities/Assignments)

GanttProject software

Unfortunately, you'll also need to install java (most people recommend avoiding browser integration with java as it's no longer widely used and has had many vulnerabilities in the past).

Note that you don't need to install the GanttProject program.  If you are having problems (e.g. "Java not found" messages), download the .zip file file version, unzip it and run the appropriate command file for your OS (ganttproject.bat, ganttproject or ganttproject.command).

One person in each group should maintain an up-to-date project plan that you can use to track your group's progress (hopefully you included this task in your project plan).

Change to Friday Lecture Time

Due to popular request we will change the lecture time on Fridays from 1:30 to 12:30.  We will meet in SW1-3555.

This also means office hours on Fridays will be from 1:30 to 3:20.

This change will not appear on your BCIT timetable, so please update your personal calendars.

Final Marks Available

The final marks have been computed according to the breakdown in the course information handout and are available under Content/Course Information/Marks using the password that will be mailed to you.  Here is a bit more information about the marking:

• the "meeting milestones" mark was assigned by your project mentor (there was no justification provided for the mark; I will fix this the next time the course is given)
• the project management mark was based on your quiz results and the mark I assigned for the documents you submitted.  The marking scheme for the documents is on the course web site under Content/Course Information/Marking Scheme.  Although they were generally well done, in many cases the documents left out details (e.g. risk mitigation, task precursors) or did not follow the right format (e.g. tasks not organized hierarchically).
• I will e-mail each group a separate document detailing how the "achievement" mark for your specific project  and report was computed.
